Storm Lord & Obsidian Chests

Like the Muppet Show, part of Wizard 101's family appeal is its multi-layered sense of humor. Some jokes, like the Gobblers' toot attacks (as IcyWiz would call them) are obviously aimed at younger players. But there are more subtle jokes too, ones that are only really funny to us older parent-wizards. Zeke for instance is always chasing after strays modelled after eighties rock bands.

Then there's the Storm Lord spell quest. First we get sent back to Marleybone, to gather spare parts from Gearheads. Y'know, they're not nearly as tough now at level 48 as I remember them being. At 525 health they seem kinda puny, only about half the points of the average Drake Hatchery street thug, and nowhere near the storm resistance penalties I've gotten used to. Anyway, once I had the parts Professor Balestrom sent me off hunting an inventor to build a device called an Oscillation Overthruster to open a portal to the Storm Titans' realm.

You can't get more Eighties than throwing in a Buckaroo Banzai gadget, folks! And where better to summon the Storm Lord than the waterfalls of Triton Avenue? (Coincidentally, right next to one of the Smiths.)

Along with his spell the Titan left me a stormy little friend - a new Stormzilla pet. Who knew they were part kangaroo? Not long after that I got admitted to Dragonspyre Academy, and sent to collect pieces of the Dragonrider Staff from the Obsidian Chests hidden throughout the Spiral.

Lol! I play way too much for my own good. Which is why I'm scrambling now to finish my gift knitting on time.
