So, I wondered, which school's the cheapest? I went to the Wizard City Robe Shop and looked at the comparable styles offering health bonuses for level 10+ characters.
At the extremes, Balance has the cheapest gear and Death the most expensive. Storm wizards, with the highest minimum price, will have to fork out more than anyone else to get their school bonuses.
One commenter last time pointed out that plain brown is the cheapest gear for boys, which is true when it's available. That got me wondering who pays more, boys or girls?

For boys, solid brown was indeed cheapest at 256, while the cheapest girls' style of white with gold trim was 278. So yes, boys do get away a little cheaper than girls at the bottom end, but the highest for both was the Necromancers' solid black at 1296 - over a thousand gold higher than the budget versions for the same item!
Next, I wondered if it would be cheaper to buy an item in colors I preferred, or to buy it cheaply and dye it the way I want it?

In this case at least, buying the robe cheaply and dyeing it was less than half the cost of buying those same colors to begin with. So don't let that gold burn a hole in your pocket, stop and do the math first. (Yes, I said the M-word.) Your patience and effort will be rewarded!

Hey! I posted the brown/brown comment. Guess that's what I get for being anonymous. :)
Nice research! Interesting thoughts to ponder. Many of my characters bought crown clothing in the bazaar before the bazaar stopped selling it. I think that's the wrong direction. I'd rather see more open economy with a 2 way exchange. ie: gold for crowns as well as crowns for gold. I also play on SecondLife which actually allows 2 way conversion to real life money.
Thanx for the post!
Since it's mainly a kids' game, I'm guessing Wizard101 doesn't allow the 2-way conversion to take the real-world profit out of gold farming.
Good work, Thank you!
