Unlike the regular shops where you can buy any colors you want, the Bazaar offers only a limited selection of colors for each school. And if you're going to end up visiting the dye shop anyway, why not get a bargain? No matter what level the item, it's always least expensive in these school colors:
Storm: Light Purple base, Yellow trim
Ice: White base, White trim
Balance: Gold base, Gold trim
Fire: Red base, Yellow trim
Myth: Yellow base, Yellow trim
Life: Light Green base, Gold trim
Death: Silver base, White trim

as a male life student, I find that brown/brown is cheaper than green/gold
@Anonymous - In regular shops yes, all brown is cheaper for guys (it's either all gold or gold/white for gals, I forget which), but the Bazaar doesn't offer the same full selection so these are the cheapest of what they've got.
