Most of the chatroom seemed to be in the "it's gone" camp, while I'm pretty sure fizzles go back to your deck. If you have cards left when the battle's over, just because you didn't see that fizzled spell again, how do you know it wasn't buried in there somewhere? I decided to do a little experiment and find out for sure.

I picked the most likely card I could think of to fizzle, Wild Bolt. I made one Wild Bolt treasure card using Keen Eyes, giving it a 20% accuracy. Danielle took off all her gear to get rid of her item cards and her accuracy bonuses. With only these two Wild Bolts and one Thunder Snake to finish the job, she headed into Golem Tower.

The "1 of 3" left has to be that treasure card. Handy thing to remember there, the deck size seen during a battle includes all your cards - spells, items and sideboard. Gee, what do you think the odds are that Wild Bolt will fizzle?

If fizzles get discarded, next round Danielle should only have a Thunder Snake left.

Nope, there's the Wild Bolt again, right back in her hand! Next she drew the treasure card into her hand

and tried the spell version again.

Next round

there it is again, newly drawn into the left side of her hand. This time she gives the treasure version a try

and of course it fizzles too.

and there it is again, 1 of 3, right back in her sideboard waiting to be drawn.
So there you have it: fizzles get shuffled right back into your deck, fizzled treasures go back to your sideboard. Any questions?
